2010 Highway

The Sea to Sky Highway (#99) serves as a valuable gateway between Squamish and the major metropolitan hub of Vancouver to the south, and the world-class four season destination of Whistler to the North. Such easy access to both areas makes Squamish an excellent business location, and further reinforces the value of the dea-sea port.

The Sea to Sky improvement project is ahead of schedule and on budget. Started in September 2004 and scheduled to be completed by summer of 2009, the 100 kilometer, $600 million highway improvement project connecting Vancouver to Squamish and onwards to Whistler promises to:

1. Reduce Accidents by as much as 30%
2. Improve reliability
3. Improve capacity reducing travel time by ~15 minutes between Horseshoe Bay and Whistler
4. Increase corridor population by about 11,000
5. Facilitate economic development
6. Improve access for emergency services
7. Create 6,000 new jobs
8. Increase provincial GDP by $300 million over a period of 2010 to 2025
