Play and Trade Squamish
Located at 38161 Second Ave in downtown Squamish, Play N Trade is a fun video game store for kids of all kinds. Among the newest businesses in town, the local Play N Trade was opened by owner Angela Fish in July of 2008, and is already making an impact in town.
Active in the community, Play N Trade hosts fequent in-store tournaments in an effort to give kids something to do while raising funds for local charities. The Wii charity bowling is one such example, the winner of which can select the local charity of their choice.
The nominator wrote...
"The owners go out of their way to make things fun for the kids in Squamish. They offer lots of free activities and discounts. They open their shop to kids of all kinds. They stay late to run tournaments and other events. They treat kids of all ages with respect."
They added that Play & Trade recently donated an expensive game to a local Pokemon card club, run by a local 13-year-old at Gelato Carina on Monday evenings.
The nominator further added...
"Play and Trade is an excellent example of how a business can become part of a community as well as support the community - treat your customers like neighbours, plan your promotional budget to involve other community sponsorship and advertising programs, listen to your market and act upon what you hear."
What they're saying...
Squamish has been very supportive and appreciative of the fact that high tech [industry] is evolving. People find it hard to believe technology like this is being created here. There is now a sense of pride in the community [towards what we are doing].
