Sea to Sky Forestry Centre - One step closer to reality!

Squamish is one step closer to building the Sea to Sky Forestry Centre. A business plan was prepared by a group of UBC students in an MBA program especially for the Squamish Historical Society.

While the community of Squamish is looking towards the future, we are are also taking time to recognize the importance of our past. The forestry industry was instrumental in defining Squamish and still holds a great cloak of historical significance for the region.

Through interactive exhibits, the Sea-to-Sky Forestry Centre will educate visitors, young and old, about the leading-edge forestry practices currently in BC as well as showcase the newest technologies in forestry practices, forest products and environmental sustainability. Other than the obvious tourism economic beneifts the Centre will generate on an annual basis (projected 20,000 visitors/annually), the business sector will also benefit from the Centre through a variety of ways including (but not limited to): leading edge building design and sustainable practices, housing of key historical archives from the community (including the entire Howe Sound Region), providing good reason to attract some of the approximately five million annual travellers off the Sea to Sky Highway, additional meeting space and business support, hosting possibilities for regional/international business conferences.

What they're saying...

"I chose Squamish to run my Massage Therapy Clinic because I find many people living here are proactive in their health care and have an appreciation for alternative therapies. Working in a small town is very satisfying because I am able to develop a rapport with each client. I enjoy getting to know them, and working with them to help achieve their individual standard of optimal health."
